We'll soon be starting the final session of the #ccpem Spring Symposium//Online. Join us for a great programme of talks from Jan Rheinberger, Bertram Daum, Luiza Mendonça, Dimitry Tegunov and Gaia Pigino!

1/x Often mentioned and now finally on paper😅. Check out our #cryoEM data collection workflow with increased efficiency, by selecting holes based on optimal ice thickness. Great work of Jan Rheinberger, Gert and SerialEM implementation by Guenter Resch. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Hot off the press! Novel mechanism to regulate ion channels Proline – beyond the helix breaker paradigm One amino acid, two conformations Thanks to Crina Nimigean Jan Rheinberger with AHA Research Weill Cornell Medicine Anesthesiology nature.com/articles/s4146…

Here's our first foray into mammalian glutamate transporters! We solved structures of human EAAT3 using #cryoEM, visualizing substrate binding/transport coupled to sodium/protons. Great job team! Biao Qiu Doreen Matthies @EvaForVer Zhiheng Yu Olga Boudker advances.sciencemag.org/content/7/10/e…

#CryoEM data quality can be improved by collection from areas with optimal ice thickness. Now thanks to this useful method described by Jan Rheinberger, Cristina Paulino and others University of Groningen you can select regions with user-defined optimum thickness prior to data collection. Fab😀!

Pleased to share our latest work on providing insights into the bilayer-mediated toppling mechanism of ECF #transporters (115kDa) with a 2.7Å structure by #cryoEM @ 200kV Membrane Enzymology Cristina Paulino Jan Rheinberger doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2…

Honored to have presented directly after pioneers in the field - Brian Kobilka & Tamir Gonen - on our work Cristina Paulino Membrane Enzymology Jan Rheinberger on ECF #transporters and the use of 200kV #cryoEM @ #EMBOMPs doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2…

Very excited to share our review - bringing together membrane proteins and #cryoEM at 200keV in Current Opinion/Research in Structural Biology authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S09… Cristina Paulino Jan Rheinberger

Out now - Lipids are the key "Anionic lipids unlock the gates of select ion channels in the pacemaker family" nature.com/articles/s4159… Philipp Schmidpeter Di Wu, Jan Rheinberger Paul Riegelhaupt Haiping Tang, Carol Robinson, Crina Nimigean Here's a short summary 👇👇👇

Our paper on how anionic lipids activate pacemaker ion channels is out NatureStructMolBiol the link: rdcu.be/cZkd3 Congrats to Philipp Philipp Schmidpeter and Paul Riegelhaupt Jan Rheinberger and to our fantastic collaborators Carole Robinson, Di Wu, Haiping Tang. Out today! #cryoEM structures of on-pathway gating intermediates in an ion channel and lateral voltage sensor movements 😳 work by: X. Gao, Philipp Schmidpeter V. Berka, R. Durham, C. Fan, @frettinglab Crina Nimigean read more here 👉 rdcu.be/cZCHP or here 👇👇👇

I was often asked what I was working on in Cristina Paulino group. Well, here it is! 🥁🥳 What a fascinating combination of ion channel and secondary active transporter domains in one protein! Great teamwork with Martin Peter Jan Rheinberger nature.com/articles/s4158…

1/10 With great pride I present our newest #CryoEM work pub. in nature. The 1st reported secondary-active transporter directly activated by membrane voltage. Full credit to the amazing Valeria Kalienkova 🇺🇦🌻, Martin Peter & Jan Rheinberger 🧵👇🏽 for more info nature.com/articles/s4158…
