Our #NationalLorryWeek roadshow has arrived in Newport, Wales! This morning we called in to see Ray Clegg, Managing Director of local haulage firm Alan R Jones & Sons.
"We don’t want cabotage to sabotage our industry," @RHARodMcKenzie told BBC Radio 4 Today. Proposals to relax #cabotage rules in the UK would mean taking work from UK hauliers and giving it to operators from overseas with who run on cheaper fuel and who don't pay tax in the UK.
There are a lot of ways in which the UK can tackle the HGV driver shortage, @RHARodMcKenzie has told BBC News (UK) but relaxing #cabotage rules to allow unchecked work by overseas drivers isn't the solution
