I would never turn down a book for having oddly spelled names, but they might as well be assigned emojis for all the effort I put into trying to pronounce them. I just recognize the spelling & sort of float over them. 😂 Tolkien for example. Should I be ashamed? Anyone else?

I used to think having an infant that would only sleep in a moving car was hard, but now I've given a poor mother in my WIP a baby who will only sleep in an airship and that puts my old problem into perspective. 😂

Can we just talk about how versatile Mac & cheese is? You can put anything in it & no one bats an eye. Hot dogs and peas? Classic. Pulled pork & crispy onions? Rustic. Lobster? Fancy! Hot sauce? Broccoli & bacon? The tears of your enemies? Okay maybe that last one’s too salty.

Words are the most powerful weapon we have. They can defend & protect, or cut down. Ink fades but words are indelible. Before you strike at the enemy, make sure there aren’t innocent people in the arc of your swing. Always be armed, but know when to keep your weapon sheathed.

When I crave something, usually eating it once is enough to satisfy me. But not pizza. I crave pizza, I eat pizza, I want more pizza. It never goes away, it just fades in and out of the forefront of my mind. Mmm. Pizza. Anything like that for you?

Check in on someone today. Reach out. Let them know you care. Don't wait for a reason. Whether we're in a dark place or having the best day of our life, being acknowledged can mean the world. Let someone know they matter, because sometimes that's all we need.

I have vivid memories of my parents carrying my sleeping sister in from the car & plopping her in bed still asleep. Even taking off her shoes without waking her. I have 5 kids and THIS HAS NEVER WORKED! I am now convinced that these memories are, in fact, a cruel lie.

“I’m putting in a new drain assembly!” I explain cheerfully to the man next to me at the Home Depot. “Plumbing Skills +1!” He eyes me suspiciously. Mutters about needing something in another aisle. Walks away. Must not be a gamer. Or maybe I was just too enthusiastic? 😂
