A happy, healthy, and peaceful new year! …and if it isn’t any of the things, God give us the strength to endure. We rang in the new year with vigil and liturgy for the Circumcision of Christ & St Basil. Raucous celebration outside, peaceful celebration inside.

Seeing posts from our Julian Calendar brethren has me reminiscing about serving the Nativity Liturgy on Mount Athos as a fairly newly ordained priest. Vigil lasted 8.5 hours, which was shorter than usual since Nativity fell on a Sunday that year.
