Today whether you are rejoicing or in a fit of despair, God is sovereign over all areas of life, and is our duty to pray for those who who are positions of authority. Remember 1st Timothy 2:1-4 and Philippians 4:6. To God be the glory!

Today I was with my children at an community event, and the child in front of us (maybe 8, and no connection to us) boldy shared the Gospel with the State Park Ranger, who was leading the event. May the Spirit grow the seed that was planted today and may that young boy stay bold.

A needed reminder of the active work of the Holy Spirit today, from the Puritan Nathaniel Vincent. And that while we may share the Gospel with others the Spirit is the one who convicts and brings people to salvation. Salvation is from God, through God, and by God alone.

Every time I preach from the Psalms I give praise that God rose up Charles Spurgeon to write his commentary on the Psalms. I think it is one of the greatest gifts to the church. It humbles you, no matter your vocation, bringing you to your knees in prayer.

Idea I have had while preaching through Ruth: Trusting in the sovereignty of the Lord God can never be preached on too much. Every time, we think we scraped the bottom of the barrel, the Lord reveals how much more we still have to learn.

Trust in the Lord, for He is the great comforter. He is the great provider even when we have sadness and shame as we see in Ruth 1:19-22.

So I have a degree in computer science but today, my daughter had to show me how to stop being a monkey on a video call.
