"Reformation always proceeds revival." - Martyn Lloyd Jones We must not ignore or neglect the truths of Scripture, just because they are rejected or are an affront to the culture around us. Live bodly Christian, speak the truth of the Gospel with conviction and clarity.

Today whether you are rejoicing or in a fit of despair, God is sovereign over all areas of life, and is our duty to pray for those who who are positions of authority. Remember 1st Timothy 2:1-4 and Philippians 4:6. To God be the glory!

Today I was with my children at an community event, and the child in front of us (maybe 8, and no connection to us) boldy shared the Gospel with the State Park Ranger, who was leading the event. May the Spirit grow the seed that was planted today and may that young boy stay bold.

A needed reminder of the active work of the Holy Spirit today, from the Puritan Nathaniel Vincent. And that while we may share the Gospel with others the Spirit is the one who convicts and brings people to salvation. Salvation is from God, through God, and by God alone.

Tomorrow is the Lord’s Day. A reminder to preachers: “The preacher’s business is to take what is given him in the Scriptures, as it is given to him, and to endeavour to imprint it on the souls of men. All else is God’s work.” -R.L. Dabney

Do yourself a favor and pick up Ryan Denton's (Ryan Denton) book "Dead Orthodoxy, And Its Cure". It is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it. a.co/d/53gi7aR

Every time I preach from the Psalms I give praise that God rose up Charles Spurgeon to write his commentary on the Psalms. I think it is one of the greatest gifts to the church. It humbles you, no matter your vocation, bringing you to your knees in prayer.

Idea I have had while preaching through Ruth: Trusting in the sovereignty of the Lord God can never be preached on too much. Every time, we think we scraped the bottom of the barrel, the Lord reveals how much more we still have to learn.

Trust in the Lord, for He is the great comforter. He is the great provider even when we have sadness and shame as we see in Ruth 1:19-22.

"Love sacrifices. Love gives. Love reaches out. Love forgives. Love prays. Frequently it is quiet. But it's impact is felt and it slowly overpowers evil, and runs to victory. Love for the brethren establishes a community of light." - Terry L. Johnson

The danger of living vicariously though your children: "Another makes a god of his child, sets his child in God's room, and so provokes God to take it away. If you lean too hard upon glass, it will break; many break their children by leaning too hard upon them." - Thomas Watson

The early church was marked by simplicity in worship: no images, no ornate vestments, no elaborate ceremonial displays or processions. Those things belonged to the surrounding pagan world with which they were at war with. Eventually Christianity won out, and paganism was
