Our Applied Biotechnology Research Group welcomed the team from Sophie's BioNutrients for a lab tour. We were also joined by Jason Cleaversmith from PEI BioAlliance and Michael Gibson, Learning Manager of the Bioscience Technology program. It was great to connect and share ideas!

Congratulations to Bioscience Technology Learning Manager, Mike Gibson, who was honored with an Unsung Hero Award by the PEI BioAlliance this week! Mike is a huge contributor to the PEI biotech industry and we're grateful that we get to collaborate with him.

Research Assistant, Mel Burke, was a featured presenter at the Resilient Homes Seminar hosted by the City of Charlottetown, PE yesterday. Mel provided tips for homeowners on how to prepare their homes for severe storms. Her research is funded by the Wawanesa Insurance Climate Champions grant.

On Friday, our Applied Biotechnology Research Group welcomed the team from Bioseutica for a lab tour. It was a great chance to connect & share the innovative work we do! We’re always excited to show off our lab to biotech companies. Reach out if you’d like to schedule a visit!

Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate the crucial contributions made by women in all areas of science. In particular, we want to shout out these four women whose passion, expertise, and dedication drive innovation in science every day! 👩‍🔬🙌🎉

Thanks to Andrew at FIGR for having our Applied Biotechnology Research Centre team in for a tour of their state of the art facility! We got a closer look into the innovative work happening at this local, fast-growing company!

We had a very informative few days in Fredericton last week at the Dual-Use Technology Summit. We learned a lot about the future of research & development in the Canadian defence sector. Thank you to all the sponsors for putting on such a great event!

Today we attended a BioNetworking event to celebrate women in STEM in honor of International Women’s Day! Thanks to PEI BioAlliance for putting together a terrific panel about women making their mark in PEI’s bioscience sector!

We were awarded Mitacs funding to conduct a research project with Island Nature Trust (INT). The project involves the development of a user-friendly digital platform for volunteers in the INT Coastal Guardian & Conservation Guardian Programs.Stay tuned to see how the progresses!

The Applied Biotechnology Research Centre team were judges at the Provincial Science Fair. Congratulations to the 3 students who were awarded the Holland College Applied Research Award for their projects that demonstrate next generation real-world application in biotechnology!
