Ex-Mormon class of 2021. Was asked to take up a musket and instead decided to bury my weapons of war and venture out into the wilderness.

I applaud this post. This is the right approach. I think it probably would have been received better if they had not recently done multiple episodes about how “niceness culture” is a plague that needs to be rooted out of the church. x.com/wardradioshow/…

People are pissed today & I don’t blame them but if you want the Dems to win elections (and I do) we have got to jettison this type of thinking as quickly as possible. “We are perfect, everyone else are idiots” likely lost this election, don’t let it lose more.

To me the bottom line of the election is that there is almost no issue that the American electorate will not step over in favor of the economy. I don't think Trump will help the economy but he convinced people he will. At which point, J6, felonies, rape, etc did not matter.

If there was a man who bragged about and was convicted of sexual assault. (Among other issues) Should you be more upset if someone calls that man wicked, or compares him to perhaps the most revered and righteous character from your faiths most sacred text?

My mom has ended many fights by saying “in my heart I know I’m right.” I think about this a lot. There is a quiet confidence that comes from having a well reasoned/thought out position. If I’m using insults/assumptions it usually means I need to do more reasoning/thinking on it.

I am making the switch to BlueSky (maybe just the switch off social entirely, we will see how it goes) Twitter has been an invaluable place for me to think, discuss, process & meet w/ others in a similar situation. Thank you for your thoughtful engagement. bsky.app/profile/reform…

It’s wild that as humans we’ve developed language for a seemingly impossible thing occurring that we can’t explain. We call it illusions/lies. Suggesting/allowing for the reality of a natural explanation that we just don’t understand…and we still accept miracles as a real thing.

Been off twitter for a while & forgot how easy it is for the church to defend itself since the faithful accept “the church said so” as evidence. Honestly shocked to hear so many talk like the church releasing a memo saying they have receipts = actually presenting those receipts

Whoever was too indoctrinated to enjoy watching bad bunny just missed a really joyful fun performance. I didn’t understand a word but I had a GREAT time. Racism/nationalism sucks but regardless of any ethical or moral concerns you are just cheating yourself out of a joy

I often wonder if the church is paying enough attention to be concerned about the ever-growing army of self-styled social media apologists who are armed primarlily w/ enthusiasm and w/o any oversight...boldly declaring personal opinions as if they are fact all over the internet.

Reformed Mormon (@reformedmormon) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I am not sure how to explain it but I just know all the people who didn’t like Bad Bunny because “I couldn’t understand what he was saying” also justify their love of explicit rap music by saying “I don’t even listen to the lyrics, I just like the beat”

As you listen to this very common attempt at apologetics for divine violence…remember that a primary objective for this life is to become as much like God as possible. So, parents can (should?) be violent to children as needed to “get through” to them, just like God does with us

In a book filled with things that absolutely did not and could not have ever happened...the Jaredite Barges did not happen the very most. Oh and Matt Walsh continues to be a racist dill weed.

The foundational principle here is: If any source other than the church is at odds with what the church teaches on any given topic, that source is wrong and if you believe what they say over what the church says, you are wrong. Just a great environment for critical thought.

Is there any other context where people assume that people who lived 1000s of years before us had a better grasp on the truths of the universe to the point that we should trust what they say about it more than what people today say about it…or is it only scripture?

This data directly conflicts w/ the prophetic guidance to “never take counsel from those who do not believe” and to only discuss concerns about the church with “faithful well informed friends”…this data suggests taking that approach is MORE LIKELY to lead you out of the church.

Not Terrorism: Human beings putting their lives at risk without the use of violence to try and prevent the catastrophic destruction of their critical infrastructure Terrorism: Bombing the power plant surrounded by innocent civilians I really hope we are who we claim to be

Ok let’s assume he’s hyperbolically bluffing (and I hope he is). If it as obvious as Travis suggests it is, then it is not useful for negotiation b/c if any idiot on Twitter can see through it so can Iran. Which long term also makes all future threats useless.
