Looking for some help from people attending the #ARMA2022 research conference. Are many people planning on staying over on the Tuesday night, or heading back as soon as they are able to? Looking to make plans and maximise networking opportunities after too long! ARMA UK

Anybody else having trouble with videos not playing properly on Twitter? I get like 4/5 seconds and then it just freezes and won't play at all.

"This Windsor Framework is good news for scientists and researchers in the UK and EU," says Von der Leyen. Seeming unlikely for so long, could we see an agreement on the UK's Horizon association? I've got a feeling with NI agreed, this could be sorted quickly #HorizonEU

Really interesting seeing the wording in the EU documents. This seems to suggest September 2024 for full implementation. Given ResearchProfessionalNews reporting on von der Leyen comments yesterday, maybe don't expect #HorizonEurope association until then! Plan B may be needed until then

The Mr. White Powder Detergent End has to be the greatest end name in cricket history. It's running in from that end that drives young people to play cricket for their country! #bbccricket #BANvENG

Are any rugby clubs in and around Birmingham running any touch rugby over the summer? It would be great to take part as some pre-season training if there is any #rugby #touchrugby

We're excited to announce that Rebecca Fairbairn has been appointed as REF 2028 Director. Rebecca will lead the team responsible for the development and delivery of REF 2028 starting in September. More: ukri.org/news/ref-direc…

This format is absolutely ridiculous. We've got a quickfire question from Gary in Birmingham, who wants to know where he should hang his curtains? Raise your hands for across the floor, shout "I hate pensioners" if over the window on the curtain rail where it belongs #ITVDebate

Whilst REF can be problematic, proposals to remove it often overlook: - The change it can, and has, drive in the sector - What allocation for QR would look like, as dual-funding is critical to the UK's success - The rich evidence REF provides of the value of UK R&D

Doth my eyes deceive me? The Research England "Addendum to HEIF policies" seems to suggest a level of collaboration between the OfS and RE to reduce bureaucracy and burden for HEIs?! A small but, ultimately, positive move.

This is so deeply insidious and I desperately hope we don't start getting into such conversations. Research Councils get their funding from government, they are non-departmental and can do as they see fit. Academic freedom is vital for world-leading research and impacts.
