Holy smokes, I hadn't even put this 2 and 2 together. Off-platform / unrelated conduct being a basis for cancellation is just ... social justicey. (I mean, all of 6f is, so...) Dungeons & Dragons needs to focus on making games, not policing a community. #OpenDnD
I've confirmed this with my lawyer. Dungeons & Dragons say it has the WORD "irrevocable" and immediately redefine it. It is an underhanded trick generally found in the nine hells. They will do anything to get rid of OGL 1.0a. This is not a compromise. This not good faith. #OpenDnD
This is precisely what Dungeons & Dragons wants to squash and/or extract fees from. I.e. "not their work." In the same breath, WotC says "you can't use our image of an owlbear in your VTT" and "you can't make your own visual representation of a magic spell for a VTT." #OpenDnD
"Whether you view the original OGL as a mystic talisman or smoke-and-mirrors, WotC appears to have committed an irreversible act of self-sabotage in trying to replace it β squandering the prestige accumulated over 20 years in a matter of weeks." #OpenDnD washingtonpost.com/video-games/20β¦
Live on the WorldAnvil discord/twitch. Dungeons & Dragons the community continues to migrate away from you. The time you have left is shrinking. Nix OGL 1.2 completely. #opendnd
Do better, Dungeons & Dragons! Great post by Foundry Virtual Tabletop. Thank you for pouring over all that biz! The new ogl proposal doesn't sound much better, a good bit hidden in legal speak. #DnDBegone #dnd5e #raisetheflag #OpenDnD #ORC #ogl1 foundryvtt.com/article/ogl12-β¦
Gamers cannot Compromise with Wizards of the Coast on their dishonest attempt to CRUSH actual diversity in gaming. "Diversity is our Strength"--as long as Wizards of the Coast controls it, right? They can do what they want. The OGL 1.0a and the Freedom to create is NON-NEGOTIABLE. #TTRPG #OpenDnD
Aye. Condemned by the own words in their FAQ, which, interestingly enough, they have failed to address publicly. Why, Dungeons & Dragons did you take down the FAQ? Why are you now saying things that directly contradict it? You say you want to build trust? Start there. #OpenDnD
