Bristol still surprises The Red Lodge Museum

It's Bank Holiday Weekend! Don't worry, we'll be open as usual Saturday, Sunday AND Monday 11am - 4pm. We look forward to seeing you over the long weekend.

I had the Tudor knot garden at the Red Lodge to myself today (do visit the house and garden if you can - it’s free!). The design of the garden is inspired by the plasterwork on the ceiling of the main bedroom.

The Red Lodge will be closed on Monday 19 September as we remember Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her funeral.

Lots of fun with our Festive Family activities today (here until 3pm). Tomorrow our lovely colleagues from The Red Lodge Museum are bringing an Elizabethan Christmas vibe, 11am-3pm. Join us for pomander-making, Tudor decorations and dressing up. ALL FREE!

The Red Lodge will re-open this year on Monday 19th June. Before then we will be dusting and cleaning all of the wood panelling and furniture, the same as all the past residents and their servants would have done.
