Our nation is surpassing 400,000 COVID-19 deaths on Trump’s last day in office. The relief we may feel with Trump’s departure from office must be paired with reflection and collective mourning for all of the loved ones lost under his 4 years of negligence and destruction.

Thinking tonight of all the souls that did not survive the Trump presidency. I have hope. But it is surrounded by grief.

At least 2,155 incarcerated individuals have died of COVID-19. Our government could have taken bolder action to prevent these deaths. It chose not to. We will not forget the lives lost.
