"Schloss Schwarzau am Steinfelde"- Postmark of Schwarzau Castle dated 21 October 1911, the day Charles, heir presumptive to the Austro-Hungarian crowns, married Zita of Bourbon-Parma there. He succeeded to the thrones on 21 Nov 1916 until the monarchy was abolished in Nov 1918.

"Ihrer Durchlaucht Hermine Prinzessin Johann Georg zu Schoenaich-Carolath, geb. Prinzessin Reuss Ältere Linie"- 1909 letter to Hermine Reuss of Greiz, who married William II, German Emperor, in 1922 as his second wife. Her first husband Johann Georg had died in 1920.

Several historical & contemporary postboxes are to be found in the „Philately Gallery“ of India Post in New Delhi‘s Red Fort. Worth a visit if you are walking through the fort, as they also offer „My Stamps“ to be made on the spot. #PostboxSaturday

"An des Herzogs von Sachsen Coburg und Gotha Königliche Hoheit"- 1911 cover from the German colony Cameroon to Duke Charles Edward, son of Prince Leopold & grandson of #QueenVictoria. He was at various points in his life a British prince, a German duke, and a Nazi politician.

"Dem Durchlauchtigsten Fürsten und Herrn, Herrn Gustav Adolf Friedrich souverainen Landgrafen zu Hessen-Homburg"- 1847 cover to Gustav, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg, who only ruled from 1846 until his death in September 1848. He is remembered for having emancipated Homburg's Jews.

"To fair dearest Henry all hearty Xmas & New Year blessings from Ella. 1908-1909". Postcard addressed in the hand of Pss Elisabeth of Hesse, granddaughter of #QueenVictoria & later Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna of Russia. On 5 July 1918 she was shot by the Bolsheviks.

"Alfred, Captain H.M.S. Galatea"- 1869 Seaman Discharge Certificate signed by Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha & #DukeofEdinburgh. When in command of the Galatea, a 26-gun, sixth-rate, wooden screw frigate, he undertook a voyage around the world 1867-70.

"I have read with interest what the bns in Libya have done." March 1942 letter of Henry, Duke of Gloucester when in the Middle East. After his younger brother, the Duke of Kent, died in a plane crash in August 1942, he wasn't send anymore on missions that could prove dangerous.

"I believe that, together, we have gone a long way towards improving the quality of life of disabled people." 1990 letter of #PrinceCharles discussing people living with disabilities. The Prince of Wales' Advisory Group on Disabilities was founded in the early eighties.

"Her Royal Highness the Princess Christian of Schleswig Holstein, Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Park"- 1879 cover of Victoria, Crown Pss of Prussia, later #EmpressFrederick, to her sister Helena. Sent registered (label partly removed) from Berlin Cabinet P.O. franked 40 pfennig.

"HRH Don Louis de Bourbón"- 1922 cover addressed to a wannabe royal. "This alleged Prince Don Louis de Bourbon was none other than an adventurer who had already caused much trouble to the Spanish royal family through his swindles", the Spanish embassy in DC stated in 1923.

HRH KATHARINE, THE DUCHESS OF KENT HAS DIED AGED 92  - she wrote privately to me when I faced an operation in 2017 :

"It was a great pleasure for me to see you surrounded by all your children". 1931 letter telegram of German Emperor Wilhelm II in Dutch exile to Bertha Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach, heir of the Krupp family, Germany's leading industrial dynasty. Maybe it's about this photo.
