✳️Did you know literate adults have 30,000–70,000 sight words in their orthographic lexicon? Want to help your students build theirs? Start with phonics, not flashcards.

Not all high frequency words follow the rules. Some have tricky parts that need to be taught directly. These are called Heart Words, because students need to remember part of the word by heart.
