The City of Austin is in the process of offering housing to the people living in this camp at William Cannon and Mopac.

This camp will be shut down in short order.

This lot size reduction was LONG overdue. Cities similar to Austin had an avg of a 2k sf lot minimum so Austin was about 2.5x the size for their minimum lot size prior to this change.

Most interested in the HOME Initiative which recently reduced the minimum lot
Size to build a home in Austin from 5,750 sf to 1,800sf in an effort to increase housing supply for middle income earners.

At an event where the following topics will be covered: HOME initiative (recent zoning laws passed in Austin), Robotic Construction, Whisper Valley 600-acre Park, state of Austin’s Parks & Greenways (wonder how what DASH is highlighting will play a role in this one).

When I open my MLS dashboard every day there’s a running 7 day tally of some market metrics. Which would you consider the most significant? How about the most concerning?

The City of Austin spent time determining a city employee used a city credit to buy a movie ticket …..but they continue to refuse to do an audit on homeless spending.

Austin, TX lands back in the Top 10 (No 9) in U.S. News and World Report ranking of Best Places To Live after dropping to No. 40 in 2023. I think if we didn’t face all of these affordability issues here we’d be a hard city to knock from No. 1 year after year.

Insane what’s going on back there…

Lost Creek, a little neighborhood in Westlake, voted to remove its self from the City of Austin.

Officials tally not in, but something like 90%+ of residents voted to leave Austin.

Should have an interesting impact on land use regulations, policing, fire and other services.

Cities new proposed subdivision rules won’t change much, here’s why:

Scenario 1: Buy 9,000 SF small lot, subdivide into 3 lots, build 3 homes.

Time: 1 yr sub / 1 yr build / 2 year total.

Cost: $120,000 permits plus install pond $50,000 etc… 170k total

Scenario 2: Buy

One interesting thing to note here was that almost half of the incoming people ended up in Williamson County (where you'll find northern burbs such as Cedar Park, Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander, etc). Hays County was the 2nd most popular spot!

The Barton Creek Greenbelt is SO BAD.

It's literally the definition of insanity.

It's all falling into Barton Creek.
