A sad, but fitting, farewell this morning to “Today’s” John Humphries, hanging up his headphones. The BBC, and his listeners, will miss his incisive style of questioning. Thank you John for all that early morning information. I wish you a long and happy retirement.

On “Any Answers” a caller said she & her colleagues had flown from Verona to Gatwick and hadn’t faced any checks, or enquiries as to where they had come from. They could have spread the Coronavirus travellng home. How can we believe “the government has the virus contained?”

Sorry to hear of the sad demise of songwriter, Bill Martin. I thank him for my second career as a cruise speaker. In 2007 my wife and I were on the Saga Ruby and Bill gave excellent talks and suggested that I should take up a similar role. "Congratulations" on a great life Bill.

Just relistened to David Lloyd's "In Conversation" with Chris Tarrant which is truly excellent and particularly interesting after watching "Quiz" on ITV last night. Chris is a real radio professional from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. Do try it.

I was very sad to hear this morning that one of the stalwarts of Radio 1 in its great days, Doreen Davies, has sadly passed on. She was a wonderful lady with a wealth of knowledge about music and radio, greatly loved and appreciated by all who knew her."

I'm amazed that anyone, but me, should remember Rudi Knabl, he featured in "Music from the Continent." my first ever production on the BBC Home Service. Sadly his solo zither won't fit comfortably in a big Band Series, sorry Andy

Just finished Robert Sellers book “The Remarkable Tale of Radio 1." I found it a compulsive read and for me, it brought back many happy memories of people and events. If you want to read the real Radio 1story from 1967 to 1995, then this is the book for you.

I start my second year of Big Band Special shows on Serenade-Radio.com this Sunday at 6 pm. The old saying “Time flies when you are having fun” definitely applies to me and I hope I can continue to entertain lovers of that special music & songs from the 50’s and 60’s
