Ensuring that green jobs are good jobs is not easy. Maine is making progress in putting labor standards on floating #offshorewind port development. California is leader in this, and ⁦CADEMO⁩ has signed the sector’s first labor contract. nytimes.com/2023/09/20/bus…

This is deep in the weeds, but a critically important issue for California #offshorewind and climate action overall. newsdata.com/california_ene…

#AB1373 is a good step forward to enable a secure market for CA #offshorewind power via California Department of Water Resources. But there are lots of tricky regulatory steps ahead via the California PUC’s IRP process before any PPAs are signed. This could impact project financing.

This is a great step for the nation and the #offshorewind industry. For added inspiration, watch this video clip with the sound on!

California faces even tougher challenges than the East Coast in developing #offshorewind because the West has plenty of cheap solar and land wind, thus power price competition is fierce, while the East lacks renewable alternatives. nytimes.com/2023/12/11/bus…

This is a big step for California #offshorewind. Creating a specialized port facility in place of decaying, abandoned pulp mills will kick-start the state’s offshore energy transition.

Floating #OffshoreWind is *one* of the solutions for the duck curve. Its power generation peaks early evenings, just as solar output disappears and consumption spikes. And typically continues all night as battery power ends yet late owls fiddle on internet and charge their cars.

CADEMO is moving forward slowly but surely in our state/federal environmental review process. We are making #offshorewind a reality for California! offshorewind.biz/2024/01/30/cal…

Attended the 1st tribal offshore wind summit this week. Hosted by the Yurok Tribe, tribes from the West & East Coasts attended. Govt officials & industry joined to explore how to increase tribal involvement in offshore wind. Really fruitful dialogue & I was very glad to join.

Trump is just trolling the libs to get attention. His new plan will never become reality. No oil company in their right minds would spend a dime on a lease offshore California. The state and local governments will never allow more offshore oil development.

Main question left by this article is what will Trump think when he reads it? Is $soc a great chance to punish the California libs, or a dead-end nightmare in FPSO regulatory and contracting hell that he should avoid like the plague? I'd bet the latter. wsj.com/business/energ…

Exxon should consider itself fortunate to be excluded from Venezuela. The oilfields anarchy that caused Exxon to exit Colombia in 2023 hint at what it could face in Venezuela: guerrilla "war taxes," sabotage, kidnappings, etc. A long, ugly conflict may lie ahead.
