Fantastic to have so many parliamentarians and healthcare professionals at the launch of the new APPG on Emergency Care (APPG on Emergency Care) our analysis that there were 16k+ excess deaths last year linked to long a&e waits shows the scale and urgency of the problem. And of course

Last week, I was proud to launch the APPG on Emergency Care in Parliament. With over 16,600 lives lost last year due to long A&E waits, we must ensure emergency care is at the front of Government plans to improve our NHS. I am pleased to be working with Royal College of Emergency Medicine to demand change.

Happy Emergency Medicine Day from Ian Higginson 🌈 Higgi President Elect & all of RCEM! EM is a specialty made of clinicians who take pride in delivering the best urgent care they can through incredible teamwork. Show your appreciation for your EM colleagues & the staff supporting you

I was proud to represent GreenED for a session at International Conference on Emergency Medicine yesterday, on behalf of my RCEM colleagues. This issue has been acknowledged by EM societies across the globe, and has profound implications for our speciality that we need to consider Royal College of Emergency Medicine International Federation for Emergency Medicine Dr Courtney Howard

Royal College of Emergency Medicine have been saying this for years. Meanwhile in England @NHSE/Department of Health and Social Care touting all sorts of demand management ideas as the cure for crowding (won’t work), whilst avoiding critical investment in hospital capacity, and social care. Sticking plasters don’t heal deep wounds

Seeing a straightforward patient - 3min. Paperwork & process around seeing the patient, 15min. Interruptions while dealing with paperwork & process, +30min. 45 min for a patient that spends 3 min with me. I’m not value for money. Reminds me of this paper. citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/document?repid…

🎪 Emergency Medicine isn’t just in the Emergency Department. As festival season kicks off, our EM clinicians can often be found supporting and ensuring festivalgoers stay healthy and safe. In this video: youtu.be/BsVBKsd5uTo filmed by Ian Higginson 🌈 we meet EM professionals

NHS data for England today tells a familiar story. It’s summer. The days are long outside, but even longer if you are inside waiting for a bed, or doing your best for patients, in one of our EDs.
