I’m not white knighting for NIH AND I will center the experiences & spoon sacrifice for the 17 “mild” patients who were put through ME hell to contribute to this study w/ no awareness that COVID was going to be a watershed moment that brought their illness to the foreground.

We want to first acknowledge the sacrifice of the people with ME that participated in this study. It was extremely difficult and we understand what a huge risk it was to participate. We want to share a big giant thank you to each of them. We also thank the control group.

I’m not defending the NIH, but when it comes to this study I will remember and center the PATIENTS, members of our community who gave everything they had, every bit of energy and spoons in sight in hopes of progress and treatment.
