Once a week, someone will ask me to look at what they call the "worst" DQ or non-DQ of all time. Yesterday's ninth at Horseshoe Indy may be the one. How do you DQ the horse on the rail after the lead horse comes over on him.? There's room, then there isn't. Disgraceful.

Fantastic to see Kyle Kyle Frey pick up his first career Grade 1 victory in today's Pacific Classic. He has been open about his struggles with mental health and his success can inspire others. Chelsea Hackbarth profiled Kyle last year. paulickreport.com/features/breed…

Lammas, the horse who beat Mixto by two lengths last time out in the Pleasanton Mile, finished fifth yesterday in the Del Mar Mile on Turf. Maybe he should have run in the Pacific Classic?

"There are bigger things than winning races. I'm a man of God first, a father and husband second, and a jockey third." - Kyle Frey puts yesterday's big day at Del Mar Racetrack in perspective. paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-pad…

Big day for Michael W. McCarthy at Del Mar. Debuting Gun Runner colt Bullard posted most impressive 2yo win I’ve seen this meet, beating Bob Baffert-trained Kalea Bay, then Formidable Man (by McCarthy-trained City of Light wins G2 Del Mar Derby. Both ridden perfectly by Umberto Rispoli

Congratulations to all connections of CHANCER MCPATRICK who fought through all the kickback and won very impressively in the G1 Hopeful. Another Grade 1 winner born, raised and sold by Denali! #SaturdayAfternoonHorses

We all make mistakes in life. Not all of them swing over $13 million, but that's what happened when a pavilion full of buyers sat on their hands for Midnight Bisou in Book 6 of the Keeneland Sales September Sale. Whoops. paulickreport.com/features/book-…

"The unfolding saga over the turf course at Parx Racing is a perfect antidote to the anti-HISA crowd," writes Andrew Cohen. "The feds were asked to help tip the balance of power between track owners/operators and a horseman’s group over racehorse safety." buff.ly/4ebC6eC

Why did a one-eyed horse's 40-1 stakes win send his owner/trainer into the infield pond? No, it's not the start of a bad joke. That's exactly what happens each year at Fort Erie Race Track with the winning connections of the Puss N Boots Cup. buff.ly/3ZckvPg
