30% of the elderly in Nansana and Busukuma municipalities have symptoms of dementia, according to study.

In her study on diagnosing #Alzheimers disease as a platform for improving geriatrics training in Uganda , Prof. Noeline discovered that 1 in 3 Ugandans aged 60 & above suffers from the disease. This means that more older people are being disabled by the disease. #AlzheimersCare

There are limited medical services available for people suffering from #Alzheimers. Currently, there are only two qualified geriatricians in Uganda. Establishment of more geriatric clinics & training of medical personnel in #geriatrics is needed. #Alzheimers #AlzheimersCare
