Arvind Narayanan It's great news that insurers are starting to offer AI-specific coverage. I believe we need AI regulation/governance, but if that regulation can come from the private sector (e.g. insurers) as a tool to manage risk, rather than govt., then all the better!

It seems like many SaaS startups are selling "trusted" AI labor without any real guarantees. This seems unlikely to last. All Waymo rides come insured against rider harms. Scaled AI labor will inevitably do the same. Kimi found a reddit post explaining how Waymo insurance

I can imagine how fire prevention would’ve seemed impossible to solve with market solutions in the first large waves of urbanization. Finding situations where markets can help price the risk of catastrophe, or even just small incidents, and incentivize its mitigation seems great.

Rune Kvist Rajiv Dattani Brandon Wang Love a lot of this, great foundations! I’d add one to your list of 25 though. Re/insurers don’t currently have a clear view of the AI-related risks in their portfolios. Work needs to be done to understand how AI is already embedded in their portfolios and how that’s increasing at

To accelerate AI adoption, we need an AI standard. What Moody’s is for bonds, FICO for credit, SOC 2 for security. Standards offer credible signals of who to trust. They create confidence. Confidence accelerates adoption. Introducing AIUC-1: the world’s first AI agent standard

In a new report, we evaluate whether GPT-5 poses significant catastrophic risks via AI R&D acceleration, rogue replication, or sabotage of AI labs. We conclude that this seems unlikely. However, capability trends continue rapidly, and models display increasing eval awareness.
