Atleast last year, Rahane used to be a fantastic pace basher, this time around he has been a total net negative. Horrendous player.

Benzema's back-to-goal play, his link-up, his ability to stretch defenses & elevate players around him were all elite. And it’s not like he wasn’t prolific with CR7 in the side either, he had 25+ goals in every year from 2010–2016 while playing a secondary role for his team.

I don’t like to say this often, but it genuinely feels like a privilege to watch Yamal week in, week out. It’s a matter of pride that this genio plays for the club I support.

Flick’s Bayern did concede a lot of goals like this, but they had better tools to survive it. 1. They had Davies-the best recovery defender itw & Boateng & Alaba were decent recovery defenders as well. 2. They had prime Lewa, so they could just outscore teams anyway.

It’s never about the high line itself, it’s about having the tools to sustain it. Guardiola’s Barça played an extremely high line too-the difference? They had Abidal, who was an insanely good recovery defender-so he almost always managed to bail the team out during transitions.

This is hilarious because Yamal is a pass-first player too. He mostly dribbles to open up passing lanes when nothing else is on. Olise doesn’t avoid 3v1s or 4v1s by choice, he avoids them because he knows his limitations, like every top player does.
