#radiology case report by Drs Mistry, Moulton & neurosurgery/pathology on a man with clinical pattern of acute spinal cord injury. Emergent #MRI showed a nearly isointense non-enhancing large cervical schwannoma, #spinalcord compression & assoc subarachnoid hemorrhage. #neurorad

Drs Fladeland & Karjala were part of 7-site study showing individual findings (CT honeycombing or traction bronchiectasis extent & PA size as neg predictors w subpleural sparing as protective) as more predictive of survival than defined radiology patterns in fibrotic #ILD. #lung

#TBT to a 2010 paper by Dr Burbridge & #medstudent A Jack on Canadian #medschool use of #radiology in teaching #anatomy. 13/14 schools responded. 69% rated #Cadaver dissection as most important. #Xray, #CT, or #MRI were used in 92% of schools with variable levels of use. #meded

#TBT to a 2011 Can Assoc Radiol meeting pres by Drs Zheng, Fladeland & Leswick. If different chest & A/P phases in a #CT, there was double scanning over 19% of ChAP length (2.6 +/- 1.2 mSv). We’ve used single phase ChAP technique for nontrauma patients ever since. #radiationdose

New multi-institution article in Rheumatology incl Drs Fladeland & Karjala: 645 #rheumatology patients from Canadian #ILD centers: NSIP was the most common #HRCT pattern. fHP had the worst prognosis. Fibrosis, traction bronchiectasis & emphysema predicted mortality. #radiology

#TBT 1991 paper including our Dr S Houston. SK and MB #hip fracture incidence ↑ by 42% (male) & 60% (female) between 1972 & 1984. Extrapolated data predicted further ↑ by 70% to a total of 30,768 Canadian hip #s in 2006, shockingly close to actual data. #radiology #osteoporosis

Are deltoid ligament injuries tied to Weber #ankle fractures? New study incl Drs Surmanowicz, Hamilton, Sahota & Obaid (473 cases) shows medial clear space widening (w implied deltoid injury) rises from A → B → C, with Weber C highest risk. #Xray #radiology
