I spent the weekend delivering the Blue Radio Qualification to 21 cadets across Merseyside Wing with Sgt Witham (1982 (Huyton) Sqn RAF Air Cadets) and CI Hayes (90 Sqn RAF Air Cadets Liverpool)! 📡🎙️ We also managed to qualify 4 new Blue Radio Assessors (including a cadet)! With 2023 halfway over, Merseyside Wing would like to take a brief look at all that our cadets have achieved over the first six months of this year, with great success gained by cadets on squadrons across the wing in the wide array of activities on offer by the RAF Air Cadets.

The last few weeks have been busy for the Wing Radio Team with multiple courses. A Silver Advanced Voice Procedures (AVP) Course to teach Cadets how to set up & control a radio network. All 9 Cadets were successful with 3 of them gaining the full Silver Radio Award.

Last weekend Sector 2 of Merseyside Wing held a training weekend at 969 (St. Helen’s) Sqn where 55 Air Cadet qualifications were earned, including 14 Blue & 8 Bronze Radio badges, 12 Blue Radio assessor qualifications achieved & 21 Cadets now trained on the Air Rifle.

Many congratulations to this week’s graduates of the RAF Air Cadets Cyber Gold Course, learning the latest skills from Royal Air Force Cyber specialists who instruct in No1 Radio School on a course validated by the National Cyber Security Centre. This is Astra modernisation in action!
