My dad was in the same queue for auditions the day Uttam Kumar got his break. The only reason it happened is cos dad got thirsty and went for a cup of tea. By the time he got back, they’d cast Kumar. Otherwise dad would have been a legend and Kumar an accountant.

Just chuffed to be on the shortlist for this year’s Mcilvanney Prize. And in wonderful company. I’ve read all these books and unfortunately they’re all better than mine! Thanks to all of you who’ve said nice things about HUNTED!

One of the things that always makes me happy is that ABBA included Glasgow in the lyrics of Super Trouper. They could have gone with Oslo but they didn’t. They knew, didn’t they? They just knew Glasgow was the better city.

We were lucky to have McIlvanney Prize finalist Val McDermid help us launch our 2024 programme back in June. Her latest, Past Lying, is "A welcome return for the much-loved Karen Pirie in this satisfying novel which contains a few in-jokes for lovers of Scottish crime writing".
