I'm not convinced that large numbers of Gen Z are actually watching Sex and the City. My (mostly unfounded) theory is that news outlets are leaning conservative and trying to prop up Gen Z as the paragon of the return to 'traditional' values.

Among other astute observations, Drew Lawrence 🗞️ captures the absolute strangeness of watching/hearing the verdict in real time at our Jesuit high school. I remember walking into the hall and seeing one boy fist pumping, a girl openly weeping, and folks arguing at their lockers.

Huge congrats to all of the winners, and a special shoutout to my former College of Staten Island (CSI) colleague, Bang-Geul Han!

FYI, that's the second Guggenheim fellow from CSI's dept. of Media Culture (Valerie Tevere is the other).

'A story about older people finding love is already something novel in our youth-obsessed culture, but The Annihilation of Fish does something more...' - Raquel Gates, Film Comment. filmcomment.com/blog/love-and-…

I really hate the 'sexy nun' thing. Nuns are such badasses and to reduce their identities and work to (a riff on) their celibacy is not the edgy move that folks think that it is.

Dear fans and podcasters: IUI, IVF, and IUD are all different things. The paternity of Mia’s son is in question because she did IUI with Gordon and also slept with Inc around the same time.

The 1914 ‘The Oath of the Sword’ at BAM Film was a revelation. I can’t believe that this film, the first known Asian-American film production, wasn’t known to the public until 2016. One of many fantastic films in the Art of the Benshi program.

She did same thing for Chaplin’s ‘The Immigrant’ at the Sunday program for Art of the Benshi and it was awesome.

It's weird how so many of the responses to this are moments of Black women on reality television (which is far from live, btw).

The Nazi regime tried to burn all the copies of 'Mädchen in Uniform' (1931) because of its Lesbian undertones. They couldn't, as prints had been distributed around the world.

In USA, Eleanor Roosevelt saw the importance of the movie & stopped its ban from being implemented.

The treatment of Faith has bothered me for a long time. Cast members swatted her, pulled a knife on her (allegedly while filming), and they kept their jobs for years while she got the axe right away.
