A4: If COVID has taught me anything, it’s that teachers thrive on relationships: relationships with our school leaders, each other, and our students. Being intentional, even in the smallest ways, goes a long way! #middlematters

I EXPECT great things to happen today. I will look for the good and be open to the opportunities around me. 👆Read it and repeat it. Intention matters. How you see the world determines the world you see.

Never take away recess. It makes it harder for the student to focus, stay on task and behave the rest of the day. As a team, determine other consequences. Maybe even walk and talk to student during recess about what is going on, or let an administrator. Relationships & recess!

Schools spend so much time talking about tier 2 & tier 3 interventions. The things we do for some kids, sometimes. We can nullify the need for so many of these conversations if we’d just dial in to great tier 1 instruction. What are we doing for all kids, all the time? #edchat

There was a boy named JJ. He was very little when two of his siblings died in a fire. JJ survived but had severe asthma as a result of exposure to inhaling a great deal of smoke. Mom fell out of the picture and grannie raised him and his cousins. In reality, the streets raised
