Drives me absolutely crackers. “I gave a fluid bolus, I know it won’t do anything but it won’t cause any harm” 1. The second part of that sentence is wrong 2. Why do something knowing it won’t work? 🤯

Especially if that own place of work is part of the problem. When I was bullied as a trainee in an awful toxic department, NHS Practitioner Health gave me the support I needed. Whilst my employing trust sent me a leaflet about ‘mindfulness’ and strongly implied I was the problem…

Sadly this does not change when you become a consultant. The ECMO consultant at 6am talking to the male SHO instead of me was a particular high point. And no, I’m not taking it as a compliment as I must ‘not look old enough to be a consultant’
