So proud of my students in #ANTH473. Some are doing beadwork for their final assignments as an act of healing and language reclamation.

A lot of instructors’ assumptions about zoom are misguided, ex that students are “lurking” when the camera is off. One student shared that turning the camera off allowed them to be vulnerable in class, cry when they needed to, and helped to decolonize their university experience

A reminder that linguistic patterns often described as “codeswitching” are fundamental to ALL human communication. Why we only notice & debate particular populations’ engagement in these practices is the much more interesting issue.
