RABI had a sunny day at the races last week! We would like to thank Leicester Racecourse for inviting us to be part of the event, the Leicestershire Committee for manning the stand, the racegoers who visited the RABI stand and took part in the raffle and purchased Christmas Cards.

After the dreadful weather last Friday and the flooding that ensued, we had a constructive meeting with the Trent Valley Internal Drainage Board at their Newark offices. It was good to have Tom Bradshaw in attendance to discuss how National Farmers' Union can help reduce the risk of flooding

Guests enjoyed the annual Leicestershire Chairman's Lunch kindly hosted at Mulberry House by Chairman Veronica Sutton and husband Brian. With excellent food and company and generous support of the raffle a great time was had by all. A big thank you to all the helpers on the day.

Our Leicestershire Chair recently attended Melton Fatstock Show on a very cold morning for the RABI Lamb class. The winning lamb was produced and shown by Nick Page of The Goodwood Estate; the second placed lamb was also produced by them. They raised a fantastic £469. Thank you!

The Leicestershire and Rutland Young Farmers Nativity took place last Sunday, the "Star of Wonder" shown brightly above the Market. Our Leicestershire Chair Veronica took her Grandson George along, who loved every minute of it, singing along to all the carols and festive songs.

The Welbeck Carol Service took place last week, it is a highlight in the calendar of the RABI, the committee put on a wonderful event. Thank you to Anthony Herrod and the superb choir, Rev'd Canon Angela Fletcher. A huge thank you to the Parente family for hosting our event.
