Please understand: the sensible, compassionate, responsible approach advocated by Hilary Cass in her review is what gender zealots at Stonewall and Mermaids call ‘torture’. Her approach would be illegal if Labour fulfils its repeated pledge to ban ‘trans conversion therapy’

The Cass Review looks likely to prove pontificating celebrities like David Tennant have not been the good guys they kept saying they were. Imagine lecturing the public to ignore kids with mental health conditions. “You absolute freaks”.

Ultimately: why didn't children who are gender-questioning - often experiencing many other issues too - get the quality of healthcare they deserve? How did ideology get in the way? This is the most important line in the whole report for me: 'they deserve very much better.'

I'll be writing about this, but yes - the refusal of existing NHS gender clinics to participate in the provision of evidence to Cass that would help better understand a vulnerable cohort of kids is an absolute scandal. The heads of those services should be hauled into an inquiry…
