For years, we have rung the Korean Bell in San Pedro every Fourth of July for our nation’s Independence Day. Today, I will be joining the NAACP San Pedro Wilmington Chapter to ring the Bell in celebration of Juneteenth and freedom for the enslaved people of Galveston.

I was incredibly honored to receive the first Juneteenth 400 Image Award from the NAACP of San Pedro and Wilmington for my work returning Bruce’s Beach to the Bruce family. This beautiful artwork by Daniel Aguilera V. is an original painting of a Black couple at Bruce’s Beach.

I want to let to our community know Deputy Clinkunbroomer left his family tonight to serve our community. He laid everything on the line to serve us. He wore a uniform just like other LA County Sheriffs deputies wear, driving in a police car, and he was senselessly murdered tonight.

Kaiser, listen up: Your workers deserve a fair wage. I stand in solidarity with our healthcare workers.

A 24-hour memorial is marking the 3rd anniversary of the tragic death of Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Albanese. Deputies from the Lakewood and Pico Rivera stations are standing guard in shifts on the corner of Paramount and Del Amo in Lakewood, honoring their fallen colleague.
