As someone who researches safety I find this really concerning. Imagine if this were another safety critical industry. #Marthasrule is noble but its a workaround for a fundamentally unsafe system and NHSE grabbed it with both hands as a solution.

Today I’m way to The Royal College of Physicians to take part in 2025 Patient Safety Forum. I will be chairing a session this afternoon debating the links between health inequalities and patient safety. Thanks to Patient Safety Learning for the invite to take part.

Avery is not happy…….I gave him the nurse call bell because there is no tv remote in hospitals. Apparently he can’t watch MAFS Australia with it tonight.

Can any of my pharmacist or clinical friends give me thier opinion of this new advice within a local trust. Why have these checks been downgraded and does it cause any concern for patient or staff safety?

Great to be in Manchester supporting the Graduate Management Trainee Summit 2025. This year’s topic is Patient Safety and I’m looking forward to promoting the work done in NHS South West and The Royal Society of Medicine patient safety.
