Conservatives NO WHERE in this comment do I talk about taxes. And the policy that I discussed (i will keep private as it was private) was NOT about taxes, or tax rises, it was about something that would be a positive change.

I've seen a spate of fake news posts about party policies on here. Oft they have a media organisation eg BBC logo and a image quote but no link. Simple rule. If there's no link to an authoratative source (unless its from authoratative legit account) probably best not to trust it

These days, you can't even call yourself English Defence League, hijack a community's grief to whip up unfounded anti-Islamic hatred, attack a place of worship, injure 39 police officers and set fire to police vehicles, without being called a bunch of violent, racist pigs.

I have never forgotten telling man after man in cell after cell how long they would get in prison for the 2011 London riots. Once enthusiasm for lobbing bins at police has waned, once your pals have been arrested, once the booze & adrenaline subside - you realise. Then regret.

Civil War is trending, but I'm pretty certain 95% of people are already sick of these Thugs smashing up our town centres. Like if you are sick of them. RT if you are REALLY sick of them.

Ozzie Cush has been jailed for 10 months for assaulting an emergency worker. The footage shows him kicking one of our officers as they cleared Whitehall following last Wednesday's disorder. Our message is clear - anyone thinking of causing disorder will be brought to justice.

This thread is garbage. Meaningless, badly-researched, incendiary dross. The author is ignorant about maximum sentences. Ignorant about Sentencing Guidelines, which judges are required to follow. Ignorant about the facts of these cases. With a dollop of conspiracism on top.

The bitter irony is that there is so much wrong with our justice system worthy of attention. Anybody with sincere interest in justice could make a genuinely good thread. But “Two tier justice” is a far-right conspiracy theory. Nothing more, nothing less.

Anyone charged by police and remanded in custody is brought before the magistrates’ court the next day and asked to indicate or enter a plea. People often don’t get much time or information. Many of us have talked about this for years. The suggestion that this is new is false.

The issue here isn’t winter fuel allowance but the fact that Colin is being ripped off by a private landlord having moved from a council property to a privately rented bungalow now costing £1100 a month and more than his entire state pension.

I need you to know that if your barrister says there’s going to be a ‘hoo ha’ in a court hearing then this is slightly less serious than a ‘ding dong’ which, in turn, is less serious than some ‘argy bargy’ and all of them less serious than a ‘showdown’.

I'm sure BBC Question Time will wish to correct the record at their earliest opportunity with regards to this misleading caption, 1 in 3 speak it as an additional language.

A few days ago, David Lammy wrote a letter to the Justice Committee answering some questions about his proposals to restrict jury trial. This is a welcome step. It’s a telling letter. But not for the reasons you might think. 🪡 🧵
