The two NY towns named in this scene have a common thread in hockey: New Jersey Devils affiliates. The AHL's Utica Devils played from 1987 to 1993. New Jersey cut ties with that franchise, adopted the Capital District Islanders and renamed them the Albany River Rats (1993-2010).
