I have no clue what the Wild would want, but this summer the Oilers HAVE to throw the boat at Bill Guerin to get Wallstedt or Gustavsson. They CANNOT go into next season without a stud goalie to play behind McDavid & Draisaitl.

The Timberwolves finished their series in Denver the same night that the Wild clinched their series to move on to Denver.

I’m calling it now… regardless of who is hired as GM, if they choose to fire Berube and replace him with a more modern style coach, the Leafs will make the playoffs and the coach will be a finalist for the Jack Adams.

The story for the Habs all season was a good young offensive team with questionable defense and suspect goaltending. In Game 7, almost perfect goaltending, sound defense, and weak offense. Yet somehow win.

My take on how the negativity from this season is blinding people to the possibility of a brighter 2026-27. fasthockeyblog.wordpress.com/2026/05/05/the…

Media says hiring Chayka is bad because he isn’t a hockey guy, has no experience, never been in a locker room, only knows business. Media says hiring Sundin is bad because he’s just a hockey guy, doesn’t know business and has only been a player. Make it make sense.

Good news, bad news. Good news: the Leafs would have 2 years to make the team as strong as possible to avoid giving BOS a top 10 pick. Bad news: that is when 34’s contract expires, so it’s possible this years results forces the team to tank before that & gives BOS a top 10 pick

All the Canadian media outlets are advertising to watch their “live reactions” to the NHL Draft lottery. The only reaction cam I want is a live look into Brad Treliving’s house to see his reaction to the draft results.

I was so worried about the Leafs just keeping their #5 pick that I never expected them to actually win the thing. Here comes 50+ days of “do they draft the forward or defenseman?”

Adam (@pucker7) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It is so Leafy that fans have been debating which defenseman they want between Carels, Reid, and Verhoeff Just for the hockey gods to say “nah, you get another forward.”

Probably way too soon, but after seeing the lottery results, who says no: TOR trades #1 ovr and Morgan Rielly VAN trades #3 ovr, 2027 1st, and Elias Petterson. VAN gets the hometown boys in McKenna and Rielly. Leafs get offensive help, another 1st, and draft Reid/Verhoeff

At the end of the season talking heads mocked the Leafs by saying “they finished 1 point away from bottom 3 and guaranteeing to keep their pick.” Tonight we can say the Leafs beating the Rangers in regulation back in March guaranteed them the opportunity to draft #1

Adam (@pucker7) 's Twitter Profile Photo

In 2025-26, the Leafs felt like they have 2 2nd lines and 2 4th lines. If they draft McKenna and he lives up to the hype, the Leafs quickly jump back to being a Top 5 offense. Matthews-Nylander-Knies-Tavares-McKenna-Cowan is a solid foundation if they can’t find a new 2C.

- 58.2% chance of dropping to 6-7 and losing their pick - 24.3% chance of keeping their pick at 5 - 8.5% chance at winning the lottery and jumping to 1st overall.

One guy is Connor McDavid, one guy is Jack Eichel, one guy is Gavin McKenna. W is different than C, but solid stat comparisons. McDavid put up 99 points in OHL at 16. Eichel put up 1.775 ppg in college at 17 McKenna put up 129 points in WHL at 16 and 1.46 ppg in college at 17.

The one thing that scares me about the Leafs drafting 1st is that it is an eerily similar situation to EDM in 2012. Everyone knew they needed defense & at #2 it was expected they would take Ryan Murray. But they won the lottery, took Yakupov & needed 3+ yrs to sort their D out.

Adam (@pucker7) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It’s still risky, but with the Leafs getting the #1 pick, I am more open to the rumored Matthews to LAK proposals. Byfield-Clarke-LAK 1st (maybe more) would get the team younger, better 0uck-moving D core, while limiting the damage of losing Matthews. McKenna-Byfield-Nylander?

*IF* reporting is true & 34 doesn’t trust the plan Chayka has before 1 game is played then we will learn 1 of 2 things -34 is one of the softest “leaders” in NHL History & can’t deal with adversity -Treliving’s tenure was so disastrous, 34 can’t see anyone being able to fix it
