Yesterday, hundreds at Princeton started the school year with a renewed and resounding commitment to be loud, to disrupt, to escalate until Princeton University divest from all parts of the Israeli apartheid regime. No stopping, no resting.

🚨On Tuesday, 9/10, 15 Princeton students will head to court on charges of trespass related to April's pitching of tents and the sit-in at Clio Hall. Princeton spent the summer pretending to "ease the consequences" for these students while actively pushing for harsh penalties.🚨

Students found these posters on campus outside Spellman College earlier today. These are the people who are against divestment from Israeli apartheid, free to spread deeply racist, violent, and dehumanizing calls for genocide.

Yesterday's hearing was another attempt by Princeton University to suppress free speech through its refusal to call for a dismissal of legal charges. Last spring, fifteen Princeton students and affiliates took action to hold the university accountable for its investments in genocide.

We have returned this semester more determined to have Princeton disclose our investments, divest from israel, end all academic & cultural partnerships with israel, drop all charges against the 15 arrested students and call for an immediate U.S. arms embargo against israel

Princeton chose not to include my responses to their Qs about the #MacFellow award in this announcement—What it was like when I got the call? What the award means to me? What I’m working on now?—bc I asked them to accurately recount my response to Q1 or to not quote me at all. 1/

So here are my responses in full: 1. We look to convey the surprise and excitement of receiving word out of the blue for this award, so if you’d think back to the moment you got the call and recreate that moment, that would be my first request.

2. We also ask recipients to speak to what being selected for this honor means to them and their scholarship.

3. And we’d want to note your sabbatical and perhaps where it is taking you, when you’ll return, and whether you have another book underway.

Fun how Princeton University is prosecuting us for “erecting symbolic or permanent structures” but genocidal propaganda is unpoliced and encouraged. The hypocrisy might be noteworthy if they hadn’t spent the past year punishing and dehumanizing their Palestinian, Muslim, and Arab students.
