You aren’t in a failing school. You’re in a school. The only thing failing is the system. It’s not the kids. It’s never the kids.

Living in poverty sucks… I know first hand. But to equate that to children living sad, miserable existences is just not true. Many children are not even cognizant of the fact their family is living in poverty. Parents work hard to shield them from that reality. I know mine did.

How do we help children heal from trauma that we have had a hand in causing? Particularly, through school policies and practices we let continue bc it’s the “norm” even knowing they are violent? #HipHopEd
