This series was the best resource I found last semester, hands down, and I will continue to use the series in any class I can. Students really loved these videos and felt the history was really helpful in understanding Black American literature. I highly recommend!

I understand that it's well-meaning, but when articles from trustworthy sources about ADHD include "reduce distractions," "establish a routine," "practice mindfulness," and "get enough sleep," It starts to feel a whole lot like the "you're just lazy crowd"

The news is filled with stories of professors boasting about "catching" students who've submitted AI-generated assignments. I'd much rather see professors boasting about how they've altered assessment strategies or gotten to the heart of why students cheat in the first place.

I think the moral of the story is that academics are trained to write, not to manage, and therefore this is a common story. Management is a skill and it can be hard to learn, especially when you’re socialized to individualist modes of work.

This is my hub's curmudgeonly complaint: our kids don't go outside & roam like he/we did. BUT he's also really protective of them & gets very worried when they go out by themselves. I try to remind him that a) we roamed b/c of stuff at home; b)kids are not welcome outside now.

Asking my students to decide which Emily Dickinson line they would get as a tattoo and then holding a vote to choose the best one may not be the most pedagogically robust class exercise but I can recommend it as an icebreaker

The "to-do list" feature is THE WORST thing Canvas ever decided to do. Students only click into the to do list then send emails about the course being confusing...because they only see the assessment from the to-do list and none of the related module info. It is MADDENING.

And can I be honest. I do not believe that everyone complaining about using this over fresh really cooks for themselves regularly sorry. It’s an opinion that I can understand people who love cooking on a higher level could have and that is not most of u

Y’all are damaging these kids with percentages. My 3rd grader comes home with a spelling test with 59% on it. As a parent, I tell him I don’t care what grade comes home as long as we fix it together and learn from the mistakes. But as we corrected it, he was in tears.

Ion wanna hear yall saying “ASL should be taught in the K-12 + college classrooms” while in the same breath criticizing the grammatical, phonological, morphological, syntactic, & body-language structures of ASL every time yall see a Deaf interpreter on the screen ever again.
