A much needed effort in the biggest state of india wi 75 districts. Millions of rupees get disbursed fr death by snakebite compensation. There is no price for human life. Prevention is better than cure. Strengthen the health system, treat close to villages. #SnakebiteIsTreatable

Hearing experiences from people on the ground is important to strategize where to put the effort to lessen the burden. A Sarpanch (village headman) speaking passionately about shunning faith healing can be far more effective than outsiders speaking the same thing.

This is an unfortunate incident to report. Guess the policy makers should consider the importance of adding clinical management of snakebite in the medical college curriculum.

On #WorldNTDDay sharing a message of our volunteer who lost her young son (her only family) to snakebite in August 2021. Knowing her has made me realize the gap in addressing the mental trauma that victims and families face due to this life changing event. #SCEN #WorldNTDDay

Somewhere in Gondia district, Maharashtra. The yellow flowers in the field behind me are not sarso (mustard). The locals call them Amadi and are used to make thick ropes for use in agrarian activities like tethering cattle or drawing water from wells and other water bodies.

In all my years of working on snakebite mitigation, I have never come across such a bizarre case.A snakebite victim in Bihar dies due to detention by the police. The victim was hurrying to the hospital but the local police assumed he was fleeing arrest after consumption of liquor

Diwali means fire crackers, loud music and mithai for many of us.But for animals, it's a time to run for cover, look for hiding places and pant incessantly the whole day. Our dog Scotty has to be hand fed and reassured that he is safe.Wonder who takes care of the strays. Will you?
