.DDOT DC has issued a Notice of Intent at Rhode Island Ave NE and 15th to install a median and eliminate driver lefts. They’ll also investigate installing a HAWK at the eastern crosswalk (while removing the western one). This is directly in front of the now vacant Walgreens.

Dear The Washington Post & Los Angeles Times, Angie Thomas said it best: “What’s the point of having a voice if you’re going to be silent in the moments you shouldn’t be?” Do better. There’s way too much on the line to let cowardice dominate decision making.

Another AM crash adjacent to John Burroughs ES, at an intersection (20th & Monroe) children & families cross at high volumes to get to school. DDOT DC We NEED physical interventions to slow cars down in DC Public Schools zones- signs & restrictions are just not enough w/o enforcement.

I’m on my way to the Capitol right now w/other councilmembers to ask House GOP to fix their mistake in the CR that would cut $1b from DC’s budget – DC's own money! It would cut police, fire, teachers & more. That does not make DC safer, cleaner, or better!

NOW: Members of DC council are at the Cannon Building lobbying against a provision in the proposed Continuing Resolution which would force DC to revert back to its 2024 budget for the remaining six months of the fiscal year. DC News Now

I’m at the Capitol with my Council colleagues asking House Republicans to remove a provision of their spending plan cutting $1 billion from DC’s budget. This is DC taxpayer money that goes towards teachers, police officers, firefighters, and much more.

This is very good! As a matter of practice, all 13 CMs (and the Mayor & AG) should be consistently making visits to the Hill throughout the year, every year! Wouldn’t have ensured that what’s before us now wouldn’t be happening, but it certainly wouldn’t have hurt!

I'll host a press conference at 3:30 pm today at House Triangle to push back against the House Republican CR, which amounts to nothing less than fiscal sabotage of DC.   Also in attendance: Mayor Muriel Bowser, Phil Mendelson, and @CouncilOfDC.

Congressional Republicans are proposing a budget resolution that would slash more than $1 billion of DC’s local budget. That means a loss of critical jobs, the shuttering of programs, and a reduction of services. My colleagues and I here at the Capitol to say: hands off DC’s

At the Capitol with my Council colleagues, urging @housegop to remove a provision cutting $1B from DC’s budget. This is taxpayer money that supports teachers, police, and firefighters. Cutting it won’t save the feds, but it will hurt DC families. #DCBudget #SaveDC

Just in from Senator Chris Van Hollen. Says he is looking at options to force a vote to resolve the DC budget problem — $1.1B in cuts that DC anticipated this CR will cause the city — on Senate floor.
