I’m on my way to the Capitol right now w/other councilmembers to ask House GOP to fix their mistake in the CR that would cut $1b from DC’s budget – DC's own money! It would cut police, fire, teachers & more. That does not make DC safer, cleaner, or better!

NOW: Members of DC council are at the Cannon Building lobbying against a provision in the proposed Continuing Resolution which would force DC to revert back to its 2024 budget for the remaining six months of the fiscal year. DC News Now

I’m at the Capitol with my Council colleagues asking House Republicans to remove a provision of their spending plan cutting $1 billion from DC’s budget. This is DC taxpayer money that goes towards teachers, police officers, firefighters, and much more.

This is very good! As a matter of practice, all 13 CMs (and the Mayor & AG) should be consistently making visits to the Hill throughout the year, every year! Wouldn’t have ensured that what’s before us now wouldn’t be happening, but it certainly wouldn’t have hurt!
