I am glad to see President Donald J. Trump is starting to fix this and using his commutation power to bring home dozens of hard working people who truly deserve a second chance.

So Capital One just cancelled my credit card. The explanation given is something in my history. Criminal background 5 years ago? Samuel L. Jackson jennifer garner Do you really know what’s in your wallet and the corporate policy that continues to punish the formerly incarcerated?

The White House announced new policies Second Chance Month. Some thoughts... First, Biden issued 3 pardons & 72 commutations. While that's a tiny % of the open clemency applications, it's also more than any modern president has issued in his 2nd year. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…

I know some non-profits and foundations that can benefit from this message. Fuck people who blacklist and cancel people (but I don't want them canceled either 😉).

Joshua B. Hoe Hopefully he does a better job forgiving debt than using the commutation power, or else only 75 people who already paid off most of their loans will be the only ones getting relief!

Does this really surprise anyone? It took BOP forever to even recognize earned time credits. Of course the calculation is wrong. Congress will hold a hearing. BOP will claim lack of staff and funding just like they always do and that will be the end of it. Feeling cynical today

Formerly incarcerated ppl are more afraid of society than society is of them. The stigma of incarceration can be brutal and becomes a life sentence of its own once you’re “free”.

In 2017 I was gonna commit suicide, in large part, due to PRISON Traumatic Stress Disorder! Today, I'm working with REFORM Alliance and BetterHelp to help people who are helping (justice impacted) people who need help!

Hi. Longtime public defender here. I & my colleagues around the country have millions of stories of *actual* state violence, misconduct, & illegality we could share w/ you. Don’t have to imagine. They predominately involve Black & brown people though. Would you still care?

Don’t talk to police. If you are going to say words to police, they should only be “I want to speak to a lawyer.” That invokes your right to silence under both the Fifth & Sixth Amendments. All questioning must cease. Don’t talk to police. If you are going to say words to police,

Did you know that judges can increase the length of prison sentences based on "acquitted conduct" - things people are charged w/ but not convicted of? That must change. If Congress doesn't act, we hope the Supreme Court will. Thanks to AFP for having us join their amicus brief.
