Be wary of what you’re sharing on social media as Russia invades Ukraine. Old videos and misleading images go viral at times of fear, distress and confusion - and there are those who want them to spread. I’m investigating with our team. Do share anything you’re seeing.

The situation in Ukraine is devastating. Our teams at Meta have implemented a number of measures to keep our platforms and our users in the region as safe as we can. This is a fast moving situation and our teams remain on high alert.

We’ve become aware that access was obtained to a number of Buffer accounts which have been used to spread support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This is very concerning to us. So far there is no indication of a breach to Buffer. We will update this thread as we know more.

Be careful what you share on social media in the current situation. Follow reliable sources. I follow @simplepoliticsuk Show your teenagers this too. I am shocked at some of the content mine have been watching on TikTok. Want to help? This is great advice from Olga Burlyuk
