Today one of our teachers took her class outside to sit and listen to the rain. I LOVE that one of our teachers took our children to sit and listen to rain. And then one of them wrote this. We're going to have it made into a sign to put in our outdoor learning area. 💕💕💕

'In times of dread, artists must never remain silent. This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That’s how civilizations heal.' - Toni Morrison.

LIVE NOW! A huge welcome to Liz Prettejohn and Pete Trippi who discuss their incredible exhibition 'Pre-Raphaelites: Modern Renaissance'. Currently open at the Musei di San Domenico in Forlì, this incredible project traces the influence of Italian art on the Pre-Raphaelites.

I asked Joseph E. Stiglitz, longtime Columbia University scholar and Nobel-winning economist, what the establishment doesn’t understand about what campus protesters are trying to say.

One year ago, a sparrow chick hatched. One of 150 million in North America. One of 50 billion in the world. They’re considered vermin in Los Angeles county, an invasive species that competes w native birds and damages property bc they like to live near humans.

Please, I want to descend these steps in a hail of Sobrani smoke, holding something pink & lethal in a martini glass, wearing a hostess dress with sleeves big enough to shelter a Shetland pony & make an acidic toast that turns tearful & ends in screaming at my guests to get out

I love CBSO but the new relaxation of rules is an awful idea. Allowing the use of phones (even on silent) in a concert will distract audiences and performers, lessening the joy of what should be an immersive few hours. Thoughts: telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/2…

University crisis. I've read article after article on this, which rightly mention inflation & tuition fees, & international students, but few mention the dog-eat-dog removal of the student cap. Quite a few Hums depts would not be facing current cuts if the cap was still in place

You might wonder why university presidents would keep calling in police on students even though it is by now patently clear that doing so simply provokes more protests. The reason lies in the trustees who decide who gets to be the president. teenvogue.com/story/campus-c…

Let’s remember this is a situation that was entirely overlooked at the start of the pandemic, largely dismissed & ignored in the middle of it, and now treated as if the cause is historical & not ongoing.

So, yeah, it’s a public health failure.

'it is no coincidence that autocratic regimes seek either to repress or take control of history, literature or the arts – they are the cultural lifeblood of societies, and often uncomfortable sources of critique.'

A whole lot of people who've spent years calling the younger generation 'snowflakes' now apparently want armed guys in riot gear to protect them from teenagers sitting peacefully on the ground
