Though subject to ratification, this TA represents the commitment of our workers, who have bargained this contract for 19 months, and have been organizing for years before that.

This sort of self-avowed indifference not just to global catastrophes but to horrors actively unfolding on university campuses (the places these people work!) is a disturbing but also *very very recent* shift. This kind of attitude needs to be ruthlessly torn apart.

I would hope that Columbia Faculty see their admin arresting their own students for peaceful protest as a red line. These students are in our care. Our primary responsibility as academics is to nurture their minds and protect them from oppression. Faculty must walk out now.
