Great stuff. Realised that I don't regards the Arabian Nights as fluid oral tradition, because I have read it in print. m.thewire.in/article/books/…

Iam shocked at the silence of so many south Asian scholars about the anti Muslim genocide underway in India. Is the quality of your academic work damaged if you speak up? Are these events just a source of theorising for career building ? Exactly what’s stopping you?

Every year we organise the Annual Book & Bake Sale in Delhi. People donate books and baked goods for it, and we sell them at v low prices (between Rs 20-200). And all proceeds go to a charity or a cause. This year we got over 4k books, and the collection is FANTASTIC! A thread:

Always been curious about the Indian English word "almirah" (=wardrobe). I had simplistically assumed that it had some Arabic root (bc of the "al-" at the beginning). But no! It's from Hindi "almari", a corruption of the Portuguese "armario", derived from the Latin "armarium." /1

New Delhi in the future, as visualised by an AI bot. I love how the traffic jams and the monuments are an identity of the city. The third image features the city in a star wars theme #MidJourney

Got an idea. Let's just rename the Mughals only, as we say. Babar: Bhaskaravarman Humayun: Hemendrayavana Akbar: Amritakaalesvara Shahjahan: Sahajananda Aurangzeb: Audavarajan etc... The Mughals, ofc, can be the Mangalavamsa Solvitur simpliciter. Baat khatam. #MughalGardens

Only 6 days remain for #TheAnnualBookandBakeSale, where we sell fantastic pre-loved books at incredibly low prices (avg. Rs 30 to 250), and all proceeds are donated to a cause. This year, we have over 4k books generously donated by authors, historians, politicians & book lovers.
