Kudos Chris Bassitt & MLBPA peers for tapping the brakes on union leadership choice. IMO, players' unions suffer from too small of a pool to draw from. Not many people in this world with the experience needed to run MLBPA. A la Marvin Miller, candidate doesn't need to be a lawyer.

Happy birthday to the greatest team sport athlete in my lifetime. Bobby Orr revolutionized a sport...spurred the growth of hockey in New England via indoor/outdoor rink & youth league expansion. Speaking of expansion, pre-Bobby, the NHL had 6 teams. 10 yrs later, 18; 11 yrs 21!
