An unfortunate incident where an elephant was badly injured in a train accident on the Banarhat-Nagrakata rail route that was converted from metre gauge 2 Broad gauge in2004 Piyush Goyal Ministry of Railways Unlike this one,there have been many fortunate ones which were saved too but1/3

The agony of the elephant is quite evident in this video, the impact can be gauged by the damage to the engine. I humbly urge the ministry to drastically reduce speed of trains through this area, humans can easily manage slight delay to keep wildlife safe 2/3

Speed of trains passing through this patch was reduced to 25 KMPH but was later on increased. We talk about arresting climate change and co- living with other species, yet we keep on bringing them harm , at times fatal ones. 🙏🏽

Here the locomotive pilot also got injured. At 75kmph it is impossible to stop the train. So the pertinent question is why the line need to be constructed at such location without keeping in mind the presence of wildlife. Speed limit should be strictly imposed at all times 🙏🏽

Even the unskilled labours in MGNREGA is getting more wages (Rs. 375 / day) than the #Veterinarians who gets only Rs.1000/month in the name of Stipened. How a doctor can cope in this world with just Rs.1000????? #Veterinaryuniversity #justiceForUPvets PMO India Yogi Adityanath
