I love this by Ademola μ£Όλͺ©ν˜ Gamified apps: Teaching you to win at language learning games instead of actually learning the language since 2011 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I love how language facilitates friendships and connection. It's a bridge between two people. Best of all, the more fluent you are the faster the bond forms and the more automatic respect you earn from the other person.

I think language learners tend to fall into one of two buckets. β€’ Learn mostly for fun β€’ Learn mostly for progress I personally care mostly about progress. The progress IS the fun part. If I'm not getting better, I'm not having fun

Say you commute for 1hr/day and do chores for 30min/day. Listening to a podcast during those activities opens up 1.5hrs of language study...per day. Without ANY extra effort. This is the power of listening to podcasts (at your level) to learn a language.

Two of my French students created a separate social media account where they ONLY consume French content. Now they've replaced mindless brainrot scrolling with productive brain-boosting learning. Scrolling has tansformed into a positive force in their lives. No more guilt.

Yesterday I had a BLAST learning Ukrainian. Instead of scrolling my social media as I ate dinner, I connected my phone to my TV and watched a Ukrainian concert on YouTube (with Ukrainian subtitles). It was so much fun! Way better than random IG reels.

I have an Instagram account where I only follow Ukrainian creators. It helps me practice the language. My algorithm is so hilarious though. I get content about women's fashion, get-rich-quick scams, immigrating to Canada from Ukraine, and even cat videos in Ukrainian πŸ˜‚

I know I post mostly about languages, but really in my heart-of-hearts what I care about most is that people are in a good place mentally. I've been this way since I was 17. It's cheesy, but is true. It has been one of the constants of my life.

Instagram is my favourite language learning tool. I made a new account where I only follow Ukrainian accounts (I'm learning Ukrainian). The result? All I see is Ukrainian content tailored specifically for my taste. The more I scroll, the more I learn, and the more fun I have.

I was thinking about why personality changes when we speak in another language. For me, I think it's because I interact with a different crowd. The people around us influence our personality. "English Azren" keeps a tight circle. "Language Azren" talks to everyone.

"That's a good idea - it'll keep me accountable." A new student of mine just said that to me after I asked her to keep a study log. After every day of studying, she will write down what she did (e.g., do a worksheet, watch TV, etc). It helps keep students on track.

After 18+ years of learning languages and 9+ years of teaching them, it seems as if the "Fluency Formula" is way simpler that I'd ever imagined. 1. Listen lots 2. Read lots 3. Talk lots 4. Study grammar a bit

Hello! 🌞 A friendly reminder that there are only 4 things you'd need to do in order to learn a language. 1. Listen lots 2. Read lots 3. Talk lots 4. Study grammar a bit Just find a fun way to do those four and you are off to the races! Wishing you the best week ❀️

Too busy to study? Start with passive listening. Find any podcast or YouTube channel at your level. Play it in the background. It's a super easy way to study! 😊 #languagelearningadvice

What I love most about learning languages is this: it has shown me how we are all human. Despite cultural norms and despite language barriers, we are all still human. If anything, culture just influences the mask we all wear. But take the mask off and we are all the same. Human.
