When I asked the Dept of Environment about how it manages conflicts of interest for consultants like EY, who work for Fossil Fuel corps at the same time as advising Environ Dept on climate change, they seemed happy to go with the status quo of self-disclosure. Not good enough.

'We should prioritise Australians over multinational gas companies...they are total leeches on us...and yet we are continuing this gravy train into the future...
How do we explain this to our grandkids?'

Public servants tell Senator David Pocock that Australia's greenhouse gas emissions will go down when we open new gas projects.
I just...I just can't....

This is a genuine question: how does 'false and misleading evidence' in senate hearings interact with statements that are scientifically erroneous?

Disappointing to see Senator Senator Jenny McAllister's slightly desperate attempt to undermine Senator @davidpocock's concern over new gas projects by suggesting he said he wants to shut down all gas production/use immediately.

I pointed out in The Monthly that senior public servants in Australia are actively facilitating a dangerous and unscientific political agenda of fossil fuel expansion -- and its the same names appearing again and again in FOIs and senate estimates.

We are almost halfway through 'the critical decade' for climate action and, as Malcolm Roberts, reminds us the ANAO found that the govt is 'unable to demonstrate' how its policies and programs will contribute towards overall emissions reduction.

Japanese-gov backed hydrogen-CCS boondoggle in Victoria...

2022 - claims will create 30,000 jobs.

2023 - their own consultants, KPMG Australia put the number at 304.

I know its fish-in-a-barrel stuff, but someone has to do it.

Our billboard truck visited Chevron’s office to remind Western Australians whose fault it will be if there is a gas shortage in WA.

Chevron exports vast amounts of WA’s gas which they get royalty free…and rarely pay tax.

Western Australians are getting ripped off.
